Legendary dog shares his water with thirsty koala!

We’ve established the fact that dogs are just awesome creatures on this site on many occasions. Funnily enough, though, the buggers just keep giving us more and more proof of their legendary awesomeness. And deadset, they must have been looking at all the top blokes and sheilas giving koalas a drink lately, and gone, ‘Oi, yeah, nah, we’ve been doing that for ages. Stop copying us.’ So, let us introduce you to Rusty and his mate Quasi.

Rusty belongs to the Stone family, and it seems to us that he’s a bloody champion. The gorgeous little pup has been mates with Quasi the koala ever since the cheeky bugger started coming into the yard in the Adelaide hills to get some shade and a bit of a drink. Apparently, it’s been happening for well over a year.

In video footage that was shared by a neighbour and filmed by a relative, you can see Rusty and Quasi gulping down some refreshing H20 on a hot day. The neighbour, Andrew Frost explained the whole thing pretty well, so here’s what he had to say:

“My neighbours Kevin and family have a resident Koala that comes down for a drink when it is really hot. Down yesterday and today. Riley Stone and Olivia Stone have a dog, Rusty, who knows the Koala pretty well and they are mates (buddies for you in the US) – here they are hanging out filmed by Danielle Stone . The family has some great videos of this lovely animal. (Yes the country is on fire, climate change is real and many politicians are in denial but nice to post something smiley). We can pray for more enlightened leadership in the future!”

Danielle told 7 News that Rusty’s such a good fella, he’s never been a problem for Quasi and just wants to hang out like mates. “Rusty doesn’t mind sharing the water bowl at all. I think humans could learn a thing or two from this pair.”

What we’re impressed with is that Rusty’s even been letting Quasi drink it the right way. In a video shared by the Animalia Wildlife Shelter, they’ve pointed out the risks of pouring water straight into a koala’s mouth. Apparently, it can f**k ‘em right up.

Yeah, nah, they have to drink water a special way, so be like Rusty and share your drink with a koala the old-fashioned way. They’ll thank you for it!

Final thought: Oi, did ya see ’em have a bit of a bloody nuzzle? This is just bloody lovely. Rusty, as mentioned, is a top bloke. Top, top bloke, and a good mate to Quasi. What a champion.
