13 sand sculptures that are blowing people’s minds with their realistic appearance

Even though we might not be the most cultured blokes when it comes to art, we certainly know good s**t when we see it. And for us, it’s not so much the artsy-fartsy stuff we’re interested in. Yeah, nah, pictures that actually look like the things they represent are what we’re all about. Naturally, that extends to sculptures. And that’s why we reckon you need to see these thirteen mintox sand sculptures…

All right, ya big bloody bewdiful bogans, today’s artist is Andoni Bastarrika, and he’s a f**ken gun when it comes to making sand sculptures. Deadset, this bloke’s not f**king about with any poxy little castles and a crappy little moat; he’s legitimately crafting works of art.

As you can see from the pictures here, he’s got a deft touch at creating lifelike representations of animals. After making a sand mermaid with his daughter in 2010, he realised he was actually really f**ken good at this s**t. Since then, he’s devoted his life to it.

According to his Facey, he reckons, “The sand fascinates me because no matter how you look at it, it will always teach you things if you are willing to learn.”

From the images, it’s obvious he’s got a soft spot for wildlife too. “There are a lot of reasons why I like to make animal sculptures as well, but one is the fact that animals are free spirits.” This freeness is something that’s a bit of a recurring theme for Andoni.

Don’t get us wrong, he gets a bit f**ken weird about it in the next quote, but whatever, we like weird, and when you’re an artist, you can get away with saying s**t like this. “Then, there’s the nudity they bring with themselves to this world at birth which they keep until their death. That nudity — at least to me — symbolizes freedom, the essential ingredient to being able to truly live.”

Yeah, just to be clear, he was still talking about animals there. Big old naked animals. You do you, Andoni. You do you, mate!

Final thought: Look, let’s focus on what matters here. The awesome sculptures. It’s not important that old mate’s focusing on butt-naked animals as he shapes their perfect forms with his bare hands. What we need to look at is how f**ken awesome these critters look. Have a gander and let us know what you think in the Facebook comments.
