This Bloke Wants to Sue His Parents for Giving Birth to Him Without His Consent

Remember when you were a young bloke (or a young sheila) and you were really cracking a wobbly with the olds? Fark me, those were the days. You’d be told you had to do the washing up, or not to flick boogers at your sister or something and you’d be like, “I hate you!” and you’d run to your room, slam the door and scream something like, “I wish I was never born!” We remember. Of course, we never really wanted to sue our folks for it, but we remember…

As funny as this story is, it’s the ultimate head-shaker. To start with, you might be smarter than us, but did you know about a movement called the anti-natalists? These guys make flat-earthers look like bloody geniuses. Their whole gimmick is about promoting the idea that having little tuckers is an immoral act. Apparently, in India, millennials who don’t want to procreate are jumping on this bandwagon.

Raphael Samuel, who’s 27, is one of these people. He told The Print, “’I love my parents, and we have a great relationship, but they had me for their joy and their pleasure. My life has been amazing, but I don’t see why I should put another life through the rigmarole of school and finding a career, especially when they didn’t ask to exist.’

On top of that, he runs a Facebook page called the Nihilanand. That’s where he sends anti-natalist messages out to hundreds of followers. Those messages include ideas like this, “Indian people must know that it is an option not to have children, and to ask your parents for an explanation as to why they gave birth to you.”

He also shares ‘memes’ that include messages like, ‘parents are hypocrites’ and ‘the only reason your children are facing problems is because you had them.’

Bloody hell. This has to be satire, right?

His mum has since responded to her son’s legal threat. Surely a clip around the ears?

“I must admire my son’s temerity to want to take his parents to court knowing both of us are lawyers.

“If Raphael could come up with a rational explanation as to how we could have sought his consent to be born, I will accept my fault.

“I’m very happy that my son has grown up into a fearless, independent thinking young man. He is sure to find his path to happiness.”

Final thought: The internet is bloody fantastic isn’t it? We get to witness these radical ideas unfold and become viral all across the world. As for Samuels’ ideas, he’s entitled to them, we guess. It’s a non-violent movement, and he’s not really hurting anyone. Except maybe his parents, but that’s their own fault, right?
