Look, we know you already know all about the plan to storm Area 51, so we’re not gonna go overboard in explaining it. We’ll just put it really simply for you. One bloke on the internet made a joke post about storming Area 51 and the bloody internet jumped on that bandwagon in friggen record time. Since then, the meme’s become ubiquitous. In fact, it’s so bloody popular – and so many people have signed up to attend the event, the US military actually had to warn them off it.

As you know all too well, when something’s this popular on the internet, it’s going to generate a s**tload of memes. And, in fairness, some of the content doing the rounds for this one has been friggen gold.

As we mentioned when we first posted about the number of people planning on attending the storming of Area 51, the original post was already chock-a-block with spot-on jokes and tongue-in-cheek claims, so it makes sense that with the tone set, the memes have only gotten better and better.

As a result, they straddle both sides of the spectrum. Some of them make fun of the perhaps inevitable military response, while others fantasise about life with their own pet alien. What they have in common, though, is that they’re both quality.

Last time we posted about this, we mentioned that we hoped it would go on for a while yet and that by September 20, the planned date for the storming of Area 51 – a facility that’s pretty much the holy grail for conspiracy theorists – interest hasn’t waned.

Final thought: While it might be starting to become a bit of a hysterical response, you can’t deny that it was originally a joke-post – and for most people, still is – but, if you know people, you’ll know that sarcasm and irony aren’t always particularly well grasped by the masses. Let’s hope no one’s actually silly enough to try and get in. People will get hurt.
