Kid deliberately waters his Stepdad’s plants with bleach, family trip is cancelled in response

You’ve probably heard us talk about pranks on here before. That’s because in the age of the internet, they can be a great way to get clicks on your videos when you don’t have other creative means of generating content. Unfortunately, not everyone recognises the fine line between a prank and something nasty. And that’s what led us to this story. Have a look and let us know what you reckon…

Ok, we’re gonna start here with a bit of context. The family we’re talking about sounds like a pretty normal blended family in the modern era. As part of that, the unnamed stepdad and his 16-yr-old stepson have a bit of a prank war…and you can already see where this is going.

Basically, after one prank, the stepdad insisted the video was deleted, and the kid – who, once again, is 16 – wasn’t happy. In response, he moved onto his next prank: watering his stepdad’s hobby plants with bleach. Yeah. We’ll be honest, if it is a prank, it’s a ‘prank’.

As you can imagine, the stepdad was pissed. In fact, he was so pissed, he responded with a punishment. He cancelled the family’s upcoming holiday. Now, that does seem a bit over-the-top and it punishes everyone who didn’t pull the ‘prank’ too, but nevertheless, he stuck to his guns.

Obviously, his wife wasn’t happy, and neither was anyone else. Things are now tense in the household, and the stepdad has asked the internet whether he’s the asshole or whether the son is.

We’ve gotta be honest, there’s probably some more context needed for a full inquisition, but to us, the ‘prank’ looks like an act of retaliation, and it crosses the line between, mild embarrassment the victim will laugh at and spite.

Still, we wanna know what you reckon. Is it a just punishment or not?

Final thought: Look, we’ve asked our final question, but we’ve gotta add this, perhaps a more apt punishment would be to not let him go on a vacation the rest of the family can enjoy and then to keep sending him photos of the experience. What do you lot reckon?
