Coca Cola launches its first ever alcoholic drink

We all know that Coca-Cola have their fingers in a few pies when it comes to their range of beverages, but for the first time ever the biggest brand in soft drinks is releasing alcohol-based bevvies. The company has announced it’s about to release three new flavours of Lemon-Do, containing 7% alcohol, in Japan.

Apparently, the company has decided it’s about bloody time they did what they always do when the competition is selling well: get in on the action. The Japanese ladies are apparently getting all moist over ‘chulhai’ alcopops – and Coca-Cola thinks there’s an opportunity there to capitalise on their thirst!

While Coca-Cola’s parent company Coca-Cola Amatil owns the Yenda Beer brand here in Oz – which it markets as a craft beer – this is understood to be the first time Coca-Cola has directly released a drink that’ll get you pissed as a parrot.

By all accounts, the company’s product developers were enjoying several quiet nights on the lash and visiting a range of Japanese-style izakaya pubs when they noticed how popular chulhai drinks were. It seems that lemon flavoured drinks were popular with the Japanese ladies when they were out to get abso-f**ken-lutely maggoted.

Masaki Lida, spokesman for Coca-Cola’s Japanese unit, told AFP, “This is a pilot project in the region, which has a sizeable market.” He wouldn’t reveal exactly which grog they’d be concocting this exciting new brand of piss with, but if it sells well, it’s pretty certain there’ll be more flavours on the market quicker than you can skull a can of lemonade and metho!

In fact, the idea is seen as the early part of a campaign that could result in more alcohol-based Coca-Cola drinks across the globe. The fear is that as the world moves away from traditional sodas, they’ll need to replace existing drinks with alcoholic ones.

Final thought: If anything, it’s surprising it’s taken this long. Coca-Cola’s gotta be one of the more popular mixer drinks on the market. Whether you’re mixing it with rum, vodka, whiskey, or ethanol, it’s a tried and tested method of getting f**ked up. Can’t say more than that. Just make sure you drink it responsibly.
