Yet Another Great White Shark Discovered With Its Liver, Stomach, & Testes ‘Surgically Removed’

Some creepy sh*t has been going on off the coast of South Africa recently as several great white sharks have washed up on the beaches of Franskraal, a coastal village in the country’s south-west.

Sharks washing up on beaches isn’t particularily uncommon but here’s the creepy part: their livers have been quite precisely removed while two of them were also missing their hearts and one even had lost its balls!

After a brief investigation by the Dyer Island Conservation Trust team, the culprits were identified as orcas. And now it appears they’ve been at it again: a fourth great white has just washed up and it too has had its liver removed with “surgical precision”.

These orcas aren’t targeting smaller great white’s either: this latest carcass was a whopping 4.1 meters (13.5 feet) long, which is, incredibly, only the third largest of the four recent victims. The largest was a 4.9-meter (16-foot) female shark.

It's unclear whether they paired them with some fava beans and a nice chianti...

In the aftermath of the attack, the brazen killers were even seen actively patrolling the area before fleeing into the open ocean.

The autopsies have been led by white shark biologist Alison Towner. In a Facebook post, Marine Dynamics reported that the carcass of a male was found on June 24 and was missing not just its liver, but its stomach and testes too. It also bled out profusely before succumbing to its injuries.

“The pair of orcas believed to be responsible were sighted offshore of Danger Point then again in Franskraal today,” the Facebook post stated. “Marine Dynamics cage diving boat tracked the pair. Subsequently, all cage diving boats failed to see white sharks today and it is believed the sharks may have fled the area once again.”

I'm not bloody surprised they fled!

Orcas hunting animals for specific organs isn’t unheard of: when stalking a school of whales, they sometimes kill the calves but only eat their tongues.

Although they have been known to hunt and kill great whites, the removal of their organs is mysterious and unprecedented. That’s some human-level creepy behaviour, right there!
