The moment the Utah Avalanche struck – caught on film!

Thanks to the movies, it can be pretty tempting to think you know all about natural disasters and scary f**ken events. We’re willing to bet, though, that the reality is pretty f**ken different. Deadset, we live in Australia and wouldn’t know an avalanche if it froze our knackers off, but we still just go ‘yeah, nah, you just swim with it, bro.” Of course, it’s not that simple, and this footage shows how. Check it out.

All right, the fore-mentioned footage was shared Miles Penrose after the big bloody Utah avalanche that killed four people the other day. Don’t stress, though, no one dies in this footage. Everyone ends up f**ken bonza, if a little worse for wear. It was filmed by Miles’s mate Nate.

PLEASE SHARE!!!! Today we were riding in the uintahs, the snow was great up high and it was finally feeling like we had…

Anyway, why are we waffling? Bloody Miles can tell you the story and you can check out the footage down below:

“As I finished recording my brother playing in the pow, the mountain shook. My original thought was… earthquake. Than it hit me, avalanche. As I turned and looked up, I could see the snow wave coming. My brother’s back was turned and I screamed avalanche as loud as I could.”

Tell you what, there’d be a brown avalanche in our underroos if we were there. F**k that.

“A second later the snow hit and the swimming started. Somehow I only moved about 20 yards and stayed on top of the snow (MIRACLE). Only being buried to my lower chest I dug myself out…Let me tell you There is no worse feeling than having your little brother buried. I followed his voice and saw the top of his black helmet and his voice and started digging. About 60 seconds later I had his face uncovered.”

Fortunately, all of these boys were okay. It’s well worth reading Miles’s entire post, though. It’ll give you a bit more insight into the turn of events.

Final thought: Man, this is one of those close calls that could have gone tits-up really f**ken easily. We’re guessing there’s a few lessons in there for the boys next time, but for now, all’s well that ends well. Still, if you’ve been caught in a natural disaster and lived to tell the tale, let us know in the comments section.
