Ozzy match-up: Tarantula Hawk Wasp takes on a Huntsman Spider

Roll up, roll up, come one, come all! It’s fight time here at Ozzy Man Reviews. Yeah, nah, s**t’s about to get physical. It’s about to get violent. It’s about to get downright pugilistic. The two combatants today have some serious beef, and there’s a lot on the line, particularly for the huntsman. Deadset, if it can’t come out on top, the Hawk Wasp will paralyse it, drag it back to its den, and lay eggs in it. From there, the larvae will eat the spider alive from the inside out. The whole thing’s pretty f**ken metal…

Now, we’re not gonna bulls**t ya here, if you’ve seen the recent Hawk Wasp image that’s gone viral, you probably know the outcome of this one. To be honest, it’s the outcome of all of these battles. The Hawk Wasp is a specialist when it comes to f**king on spiders. What can be surprising, though, is the sheer size of the spiders it can destroy.

In this case, the photo was taken in Bronte, which is a suburb of Sydney. The photographer, who goes by the name of Space_Monster, posted it to Reddit, where it was quickly sent viral. They captioned the image by saying, “Got home from work to find this Tarantula Hawk wasp carting off a huntsman spider (Sydney Australia).”

Apparently, just a short while after it was found, Space_Monster’s roommate found the spider’s head outside. At this stage, it’s unclear whether that means the larvae had already devoured the spider or whether it befell a fate that’s a bit different to the standard one. Either way, the whole thing’s brutal as f**k.

Seriously, this is pretty much the sort of thing you’d see in a mean as f**k creature feature movie. In reality, we should be glad that we as humans don’t have predators like this to deal with. F**k that.

Final thought: Yeah, nah, this s**t might be pretty hardcore, but it once again shows that there’s not too much in fiction that doesn’t already exist in the animal world. Mother Nature, for all her beauty, can be a f**ken monstrously callous bitch. The fate of any spider coming into contact with a Tarantula Hawk wasp shows that.
