Oreo built a doomsday vault to protect cookies for future generations

Let’s be honest, when we talk about the end of the world, loads of us go straight to thoughts of zombie-slaying and souped-up cars. What we don’t do is ask the important questions, like what’s gonna happen to the Oreos? Thankfully, Nabisco, the company who make Oreos have thought ahead. Deadset, the company’s just pulled off an awesome stunt that’s seen them build a real-life vault just down the road form the giant seed-vault in Svalbard, Norway.

If you haven’t heard of the seed vault, it’s basically a big bunker where seeds from all the world’s plants are kept. The hope is that in the event of the apocalypse, we can replant trees and rebuild. It’s a good idea, but it just doesn’t feel as good as finding a cache of Oreos after an epic trek across a dystopian planet.

With that in mind, the cookie company has built a vault just down the road from the seed-vault. Right now they’re insisting it’s ‘really real’ and we hope to f**k that it actually exists. According to the company, it houses the recipe to the famous cookies and a healthy stock.

Better yet, they’ve been celebrating with some awesomely silly videos. According to the cookie company, they got the idea when news spread that an asteroid would pass the earth on November 2.

More specifically, they’re reacting to a simple tweet from Olivia Gordon. “Who will save the Oreos?” she asked.

The answer to that is simple: Oreo will. They’ve purchased real estate in Svalbard, just down the road from the seed-vault and have installed a bunker.
