Legend Demonstrates Why the Earth Looks Flat Even Though It’s Not
In an age when the ready availability of information on the internet is supposed to make us all smarter, it’s interesting that completely ludicrous ideas like ‘the earth is flat’ have been able to profligate. Fortunately, Greg, a 47-Year Old Musician, was able to add to the smorgasbord of evidence explaining why the earth appears flat to the naked eye with a little home research. Check it out below…
Let’s begin with a little context. Greg, a man who loves Lake Michigan, realised he was coming down with the symptoms of intelligence when he snapped a photo of the lake and found himself questioning what the image seemed to show, and in turn, his own reality.
When his photo seemed to show the horizon was a flat plane, he had doubts about everything he’d been taught about the shape of the Earth. Using a little mathematical nous, he then critically evaluated his photos and added to the weight of evidence disproving the flat earth theory.
He told Bored Panda, “I’ve often looked at the horizon over that lake–thousands of times–and wondered, “Am I seeing a curve? I’m not sure. Maybe a little? Or is my mind playing tricks?…When I actually did the math and made the diagram, I actually felt a rush.”
Have a look at the images Greg posted to Imgur and check out his evidence for yourself.
Greg’s set the scene. Now he’s about to give you the info you can use to say, “Yeah-nah, f**k you,” to Flat-Earthers everywhere!
There you have it. Although it might look flat, there’s a bloody good reason for that. You’re looking at an infinitesimal speck on a ball. Good shit.
Final thought: You might argue that Greg hasn’t actually proven that the earth is not flat, and that’s a fair call. What he has done though is prove why the earth looks flat. We’ve got tonnes of photos of the earth from outer space – and a bunch of other science – proving that the earth is round. Unfortunately, we’ve got none that proves it’s flat – and Greg has proven enough to show the naked eye theory is unreliable.
