This zookeeper was reunited with elephant he cared for 35 years ago

From time to time, you’ve probably all wondered whether or not the phrase ‘an elephant never forgets’ was fair dinkum enough to have any actual merit or whether it was a load of the old proverbial…well, thanks to a recent reunion between man and elephant, we now know that yeah, it just might be a pretty bloody accurate assessment of an elephant’s memory. Check this s**t out…

Kirsty the elephant is a big bewdiful creature that’s done her fair share of travelling.

Deadset, this big elephant gets around a bit for a sheila who can’t book her own tickets on Flight Centre.

In her long career of being fed peanuts in zoos around the world, she’s been to Scotland, Pommyland, the Republic of Ireland and Germany.

Despite all of that, there’s one bloke who’s never forgotten her.

Peter Adamson is a zookeeper who looked after Kirsty in the 70s and 80s. He thought he’d lost track of her forever, but it’s not to be. Like a son tracking down the mother who never wanted to know him, he got online and tracked down the big bloody sheila.

Turns out she was in bloody Germany, the land of the sausage, the big beer and the Neunkirchen Zoo. Fortunately, the workers there are a bunch of top blokes and sheilas and they were like, f**k yeah, of course you can come and see your girlfriend.

Obviously, Adamson was stoked. And so was bloody Kirsty. Deadset, she bloody remembered her old mate and gave him a big hug. Experts reckon she could recognise Adamson’s voice and she f**ken loved it!

Adamson said, “Of course, I was wondering if there was any truth to the phrase ‘elephants never forget’ and that she allowed me to get close and accepted me was a very emotional experience for me. I will always keep that memory in my heart.”

As you might expect, Adamson reckons he’ll visit Kirsty as much as possible now that he knows where she is.

Final thought: I’m not crying. You’re crying. We’d ask you to let us know about that time you tracked down a sheila you miss heaps, but we all know how that would end up. Yeah, nah, we don’t need to have you all put yourselves on a list.
