‘Laxatives in school lunch lemonade’ video gets 2.5 million views

Pretty much every bloke ever has heard of laxatives and entertained the notion, nay, the dream, of dosing some poor b*stard up with a hefty serve of the bloody things in order to – quite literally – give them the sh*ts. Thanks to movies like Dumb and Dumber, we’re all aware of just how much damage laxatives can do. In recent days, you may have seen a video where dozens of kids have been tricked into drinking laxatives. The results, as you can imagine, are messy. Fortunately for everyone involved, there’s more to that vid than meets the eye…

First of all, let’s break it down. It opens in a school cafeteria. Initially, we can see a lunch-table, but very quickly, the camera shows us what everyone’s looking at: the kids are bolting around the room, trying to get to the dunny before they blast everyone with something runny.

It doesn’t take too long, to see that the halls look like the aftermath of a particularly traumatic event. I guess we could call it a school sh**ting. Finally, another kid pukes his tits up and we get to see students using any possible receptacle as a throne. It’s really f**king gross.

Now, here’s the reason it – thankfully – isn’t real. It’s part of a marketing campaign for a new Netflix program called American Vandal. Yep, fresh from their ‘trick someone into believing they’re invisible’ video, they’ve gone for the ultimate gross-out.

The second season of the new show, which is set in a prestigious school called St Bernardine’s is called The Turd Burglar, and the first episode is titled The Brownout. To add more buzz to the video, there’s also an Instagram account set up for the show. The account handle? @The TurdBurglar. Nice!

Final thought: While clever ad campaigns like this can sometimes make you feel like a bit of a sucker once you find out what they’re really about, you have to give credit to Netflix for continuing to do things a little bit differently and garnering some early interest in their shows with quirky vids – even if they are a bit gross!
