Trolls tell Journalist she’s ‘too ugly’ to post pics of her face, she responds brilliantly

As you’re probably aware, we live in a strange set of political times that really make everyday a vicious war of words between one side and the other. Unfortunately, when those political discussions involve the incumbent US President, Donald Trump, they often end up not being that political at all. So, when Melisa Blake, a journo who’s worked for CNN and Cosmo released an op-ed about unfollowing the President’s Twitter account, the trolls went on the attack. Fortunately, Melissa’s pretty thick-skinned and knew exactly how to respond…

So, yeah, there’s an elephant in the room here and we need to mention it. Yeah, nah, we’re not sure exactly why supporters of the President feel like they need to mock and denigrate – although we have a pretty friggen big inkling – but they’re learning this behaviour from somewhere.

Anyway, Melissa’s op-ed piece, which presents a well-reasoned hypothetical situation in response to some of Donald Trump’s more racist tweets and reflected on the seven days she spent ignoring the controversial President, riled some feathers. Here’s a sample of her piece:

“Is it irresponsible of me as an engaged citizen to ignore the President’s statements to the public, the media or other world leaders on social media? Is it wrong to just ignore something we don’t like, as if not acknowledging it will make it go away?

“I’m not sure I fully know where that line is yet, but I do know one thing for sure: Not reading Donald Trump’s words on social media would be a powerful act of collective resistance. Millions of us could be sending the message that racism, homophobia, misogyny and ableism have no place in 2019.”

As we said, it’s actually a pretty good read.

Still, what happened next was kinda predictable. Blake has Freeman-Sheldon Syndrome, a genetic bone and muscular disorder. To be honest, it’s no big deal, but bullies are bullies and those who are most vehement in their support of Trump often aren’t great at articulating their positions. Yeah, nah, they like to name-call and insult.

Blake didn’t let it bother her, though. After the trolls went to town, she set right to flipping them off in the best way possible. Fair dinkum, when they told her she was ‘too ugly’ to post selfies, she knew exactly how to infuriate them. With more selfies.

“During the last round of Trollgate,” she tweeted, “people said that I should be banned from posting photos of myself because I’m too ugly. So I’d just like to commemorate the occasion with these 3 selfies.”

Bloody gold.

Final thought: We reckon this is the best possible way to piss off the haters in this scenario. And you know what; millions of ugly buggers are online. No matter what you look like, though, nothing’s uglier than the inability to articulate a coherent argument or accurately verbalise your feelings. We reckon you’re a top bloody sheila, Melissa. Like many others have said, you’re bloody sweet in our books, ya big bloody top sheila, you!
