Bloke drops iPhone with case down 100m staircase to see what happens
If there’s one thing we pretty confidently say, it’s that bloody everyone loves a bit of consequence-free destruction. Yeah, nah, we’re not sure whether it’s just the thrill of doing something you ‘shouldn’t’, or whether it’s the rockstar vibes the whole thing gives off, but we’d bloody love to throw a TV out of a hotel window; wouldn’t you?
And, in a way, that’s why we reckon people love this video. It’s kinda science – given that it has a control experiment – but it’s mostly about smashing s**t.
So yeah, basically, the bloke in the video, Techrax, throws an iPhone XS without a case down a stairwell. He then follows it up by throwing down another one in a protective case.
As he explains at the start of the video:
“What we’re going to be doing in this video is really simple. We’re going to be dropping it off this spiral staircase, and hopefully it’s going to land at the very bottom. You guys can see the little black square down below, but here’s the perspective from the top. There won’t be any case on the phone.”
Once the obvious happens, he moves onto the one in the case. And, yeah, nah, the result is kinda obvious.
“So it’s outta the case, and it’s cracked. It’s got a crack right there. First of all, let me…woah!” And yeah, as you can see, that phone’s f**ken cactus. The case does do a fair enough job, but only on the bits that are covered. The rest of it’s taken a short trip to Destination F**ked and looks worse than the phone without the case!
There’s probably a lesson there: don’t throw your phone down a bloody 300-foot stairwell.
Final thought: We’re not sure why, but we reckon this might be exactly the kinda video that needs a ‘don’t do this s**t at home’ stamp on it. Yeah, nah, we know it’s common sense, but have you seen people lately? There’s not a great deal of that going around. Anyway, old mate Techrax has loads of good videos like this. Check ‘em out.
