Check out these bloody satisfying restaurant comebacks to bad reviews

In this day and age, there are certainly times when it can seem like everyone is a pro-reviewer, and that’s got a lot to do with the ease of getting online and sharing some thoughts about your recent meal. Deadset, dudes who burn their baked beans are now able to hop online and lambast restaurants over dodgy service. It’s a fairly strange dichotomy, but it’s not all about ‘people-power’. Yeah, nah, the way restaurants respond to bad reviews can be pretty good too. Particularly when the reviews are embellished or made up.

Seeing as you’re not a bunch of idiots, we’re just gonna assume you know that for a lot of industries, reviews can be a really powerful way to develop business or spread the word.

When it comes to bad reviews, though, there’s a school of thought that suggest less might be more. And when you think about it, a lack of reviews kinda says as much as a bunch of s**tty ones.

Don’t get us wrong, there are certainly some occasions that call for a dodgy review. After all, if you’ve got the credentials to make the judgement call and the product really is a rip-off, no one’s really gonna complain.

Of course, not all negative reviews come from that place of public concern, though. Yeah, nah, it seems like more than a few of them are pretty bloody sketchy. They might be the product of competition from rival businesses or bad write-ups from disgruntled customers, but in more than a few cases, it seems like people have outright made stuff up. Worse, they might have got the wrong business.

Final thought: When you think about the fact a bad review can actually harm someone’s business – and perhaps even stop them from paying bills – maybe a cool-off period would be great. You write the post and then it’s put on a seven-day lockdown. If you still reckon it’s a good idea a week later, bloody well go ahead. What do you reckon?
