This new chilli sauce mimics the effects of a spider-bite
We all know someone who’s a bloody chilli-pepper tough guy, we reckon that’s fair to say. What’s also fair to say is that there’s nothing better than watching those blokes finally be made to eat their words when they try a chilli – or sauce – that’s just too hot for them. If you haven’t seen them fail a chilli challenge yet, but you’d really bloody like to, the new Venom Chilli Sauce is the way to make it happen…
Straight up, the Venom Chilli Sauce is pretty f**ken out there. Developed by Venomtech, a company that researches the uses of various venoms in drugs, cosmetics and insecticides, it mimics the effects of a bite from the Trinidad Chevron tarantula.
If you want to know just how the f**k someone comes up with this as an idea, let’s go straight to the source. Steven Trim, the managing director and founder of the company, says:
“We focus on studying venoms and how they work in biology for drug discovery and through this research we became aware that the Trinidad Chevron venom actually works on the same receptors as Capsicum.”
Obviously, that’s where the idea was born.
“It was about two years ago when we had that first light bulb moment. I laughed it off at the time and said it was hilarious to do. Nobody has been foolish enough to try the venom. But we kept bringing it up when we bumped into each other over the year. We finally hit on the idea of doing a synthetic inspired sauce. It’s as best as we can manage without actually tasting the venom. It’s a similar heat component that the venom would cause. ”
Notice that he says it’s synthetic, though. You don’t have to worry about any ‘real’ effects from the spider’s venom. Yeah, nah, this is just a copy that does the same s**t.
Final thought: If you do know someone who’s always boasting about their chilli-noshing skills, get some of this and make ‘em suffer the burn.
