IT Chapter Two’s first teaser trailer is out – and it f**ken delivers

We know it’s pretty f**ken redundant to claim that being a big fan of Stephen King makes you special, because there really aren’t too many novelists who sell more books than him or see more movie adaptations of their material made, but f**k it, we bloody love Stephen King. When there’s a new movie on the horizon, that’s usually a reason to get excited – even if there are a few misses among the hits. So with IT Chapter Two about to take us back to Derry, let’s have a squiz at the first teaser trailer…

First up, trailers can be a risky proposition these days.

The bloody things have really started to create a worrying dynamic where they spoil or reveal key moments, so we’re going to focus on the crux of this one and not the whole thing, but the short scene the trailer includes is a good sign that Andrés Muschietti is gonna f**ken nail it.

Bearing in mind the novel’s been out thirty-three years and the first movie only slightly less, it’s not a spoiler to tell you the Losers Club are grown up and have to return to Derry where they’ll do battle with Pennywise the Dancing Clown once again.

In that time, the characters have done some maturin’ and we’re treated to one of the novel’s most discomforting scenes in this trailer.

One where Bev returns home as she tries to escape an abusive relationship. That’s when she finds an old lady who claims to have known her father.

You can watch the trailer to experience the dread-inducing scene, but from where we stand, this is perfectly delivered horror. And don’t go giving us any of that ‘it’s not scary’ bulls**t. Horror is about more than making you jump. It’s that little bit of anxiety and trepidation you feel growing in your belly as you wait for the moment of impact to arrive.

Final thought: We dunno about you, but we’re loving the new generation of Stephen King adaptations. Sure, The Dark Tower was awful, and so was The Mist television series, but you can’t complain too much about the rest of it.

So, Hollywood, how about a remake of Silver Bullet? That’d would certainly get our fur – and our other bits – standing on end!
