Bloke films his escape from MAX security jail on iPhone

For some reason a bloody good jailbreak really resonates with us former convicts here in Ozzyland. Deadset, from movies to Acca Dacca songs, we can’t get enough of that good s**t in film, music and literature. So when the chance comes up to watch a real life Shawshank Redemption, it’s fair to say our curiosity is piqued. And yeah, f**ken oath it is. Who wouldn’t want to watch that s**t unfold. Well, now’s your chance. Remember that jailbreak in California a couple of years back? Turns out they filmed the whole thing – and the video’s somehow escaped our attention until now…

If you’re not sure what we’re talking about, here’s a little reminder. Back in January 2016, three blokes, Johnathan Tieu, Adam Hossen Nayeri and Bac Duong made headlines when they staged an all too real escape from the Orange County Men’s Central Jail.

At the time, there was s**tloads of conjecture about what exactly happened, but some pretty f**ken real footage – courtesy of one of the inmate’s iPhones – shows exactly how they made their way out.

And, er, yeah, no s**t, it’s pretty much like the movies. Those cheeky f**kers literally cut through a metal grate behind a bed, slipped out and made their way up and down several confined tunnels with some apparently Macguyvered equipment.

Although, to hear Adam Hossen Nayeri tell the story, the jailbreak was a bit more organised than that previous statement lets on. He reckons, “It took a few hours just to set things up. We had a duffel bag and a backpack full of stuff: bundles, hundreds of feet of high-grade ropes, practically a toolbox; down to sized shoes, clothes and much more.”

Obviously, that poses a few pertinent questions. We’ll let you figure those out for yourself, but make sure you check out the video. It makes for a more than interesting watch.

Final thought: Rightio, ya big bloody legends. If you know the story, you’ll know these blokes kidnapped a taxi driver and even talked about killing him before they ended up back in the slammer, so let’s not make them heroes, but you’ve got to give it to them for at least making their way out in what seems like a pretty daring escape.
