Look, we’ll be the first to admit that some blokes don’t get subtlety. Yeah, we know it’s a cliché and that there are plenty of blokes who are perfectly au fait with the nuances of language and are more than capable of reading between the lines, but we also know just how blunt you have to be with some fellas. This text exchange tells one of those stories…

It all unfolded when Kuda, a sheila with a bit of a crush on her neighbour gets his number off one of their mutual friends. Keen to get him to come over, she sends him a gentle come-on through text. And, let’s be honest, when we say ‘gentle come-on’, we really mean desperate plea.

Yeah, nah, we really can’t call this subtle. As it plays out, Kuda is about as delicate as a sledge-hammer. Unfortunately, the dude really doesn’t seem to be getting it. Now, we don’t know this bloke, and at first we were thinking that maybe he was trying to politely refrain, but the penny-drop moment at the end of the conversation seems to suggest that he really didn’t have a clue.

And, look, let’s cover the elephant in the room here. Some people have looked at this and suggested that if the situation was reversed and Kuda was on the receiving end of the come-on, people might actually be outraged by the situation.

To be honest, we get that they might be, but it’s apples and oranges. In those situations you’re talking about a power-relationship and it’s getting to the point where things are over the top if you just wanna flip the roles and make judgement calls. There’s nothing to suggest Kuda’s advances are unwelcome – even if they’re not understood.

And, it’s all there in the ending. Once Kuda’s crush understands what’s going on, he lets her know he’s happy to see to her bed – and probably her plumbing too.

Final thought: So, er, yeah, we reckon that on this occasion it’s fair to say Kuda’s crush is one of those guys who basically needs you to state exactly what you want. Does that mean all guys are like that? Not really. Would it make things more simple if that was how the world worked?
