Legendary firefighter rescues cat from US wildfire, now she won’t leave him alone

It’s pretty f**ken hard to find positive news stories in the wake of the fires that have torn through California in recent weeks. Having been racked by nasty-as-f**k fires ourselves on more than a few occasions, it’s pretty safe to say we’re thinking of those of you who are affected at a time like this. It’s good to see one piece of good news has emerged. A cat who was left abandoned by his family when they were evacuated has ‘adopted’ the fire-fighter who rescued it…

When Ryan Coleman, one of the f**ken legends who’s risking life and limb at the coalface of the fires, was sifting through debris in the town of Paradise, he discovered a forsaken cat. Fortunately, the cute little bugger was doing all right.

With knowledge that Camp Fire was heading towards the town, the residents of Paradise had some tough f**ken decisions to make. They had to evacuate and – although we don’t know exactly what happened with the cat – it’s probably not a stretch to assume the feline was out and about doing cat things when the order was given.

Anyway, regardless of the potential reasons for the cat’s abandonment, it’s obvious it was f**ken stoked and bloody grateful to have been rescued by Coleman. She made like a frigging parrot and perched on his shoulder for some photos; nuzzled up to him, rubbing her face on his, and chilled out with the fire-fighter while he kept on working.

Coleman has since posted some photos of the cute little kitty-cat online and said he wished he could have kept it.

Camp Fire has destroyed almost 12,000 homes and burned over 150,000 acres of land and property. Although there’s some rain on the way, authorities fear that it may lead to mudslides, making the job of fire-fighters even harder.

Final thought: Any port in a storm and any good news we can latch onto here is like a ray of bloody sunshine right now. It’s great that this cat has survived. Hopefully it finds its way back to its original owners.
