Builders of $700k “half-house” explain WTF went wrong

Home ownership is seriously one of the great dreams in this country. S**t, it’s one of the great dreams in any country. It’s not always easy, though. Yeah, nah, you need to lay off the avocadoes, pinch your pennies and put in hours and hours of planning. Still, it’s all worth it when the dream is realised – particularly when you’ve designed your own home to have built. One thing we don’t often talk about, though, is that it can be pretty stressful. Particularly if things get messed up. And that’s what brings us to today’s story…

You might have seen some stuff about this one on the news lately. That’s because Bishnu Aryal’s new joint has all gone a bit pear-shaped. Have a look at the pictures below to see what we mean.

Yeah, as you can tell, things aren’t quite right with the house. Basically, after dropping $700,000 Aussie dollarydoos on the family’s dream home, it’s been f**ked right up. He says he ‘trusted the process’ and the builders have let him down. The house, which was supposed to be freestanding, is now a duplex taking up half the block.

“Where’s my house? I want the rest of my house. It’s not a freestanding house, it’s not a duplex, it’s half a house. And it looks embarrassing,” he told A Current Affair.

The builders, though, they reckon it’s not their fault and they say they gave Aryal multiple opportunities to back out of the project once they realised what was happening.

Since Aryal spoke to A Current Affair, the builders have had their ratings bombed on Google, and have now taken to Facebook to give their side of the story.

“The disagreement that’s causing the holdup is between the certifier and Liverpool City Council and we’re working hard with them both to try and rectify the situation as quickly as possible. The fact is the owners of the lot next door have failed to proceed with building their home and that’s why the certifier has continued to refuse to issue an Occupation Certificate.”

Without getting bogged down in the ins and outs, this sounds like a total bloody nightmare, and we can only hope it gets sorted before long. In the meantime, though, Aryal is saying that Zac Homes, the builders are pulling people’s legs.

“Zac Homes again has given a false statements with the media. This is why I bring this up, their statements has no proof and just making up the imaginary sentences.”

Final thought: Yeah, nah, this isn’t bloody good for anyone. You’ve gotta feel for Aryal, but at the same time, you wouldn’t think the builders would have gone ahead with things without specific instruction. Anyway, let us know what you think in the comments section. See you there.
