Roger the Kangaroo dies aged 12
It’s a bloody sad day here in Ozzyland. One of our most beloved roos, Roger the Hench Kangaroo, who was known to love crushing metal buckets, has finally kicked one. Yep, the buff red kangaroo who took the world by storm when he went viral in 2015 has breathed his last.
Here at Ozzy Man Reviews, we’ve always had a lot of love for Roger. If you’re a regular visitor to our site, you’ll have seen him up there on our banner countless times, so it’s with a bit of a sniff we relay this news to you.
Chris ‘Brolga’ Barns, the owner of the Kangaroo Sanctuary where Roger not only lived, but also grew up, broke the news in a sad video this weekend. Sitting on the red dirt of the sanctuary with a couple of smaller kangaroos having a feed nearby, Barns explained that Roger was not only the sanctuary’s alpha male, but also the reason for its existence.
“It’s a very sad day here today for we have lost our beautiful boy, Roger. Ten years ago, I built this sanctuary to house Roger and a couple of his wives, Ella (and) Abigail. We built it so they’d have a place to live. Roger was our alpha male for many years and he grew up to be a kangaroo that people from all over the world have grown to love as much as we love him too.”
Roger went viral a few years ago and was known as a big staunch mother**ker with the power to crush metal buckets with his bare hands. As the sanctuary’s alpha male, he wasn’t always the friendliest chap in his younger years.
“He was still a baby when I saved him from his mother’s pouch after she’d gotten killed on the highway,” Barns told the BBC. “At the beginning, there was a close bond but soon he looked at me as competition and wanted to fight me. Roger was as muscular as they come.
In his later years, Roger suffered from arthritis and failing vision, but he remained a strong favourite of those who knew him and those who’d seen him online.
Final thought: F**ken rest in peace, Roger. We know you’ll be up there in Kangaroo heaven, boxing on with the other males and taking the ladies for a bit of a bounce. We’ll miss ya, mate.
