Lego have released a 3,300 piece Batmobile set and it’s bloody unreal

When it comes to Lego, we understand that we don’t know nearly as much about the stuff as some of you blokes and blokettes out there in the comments section. That doesn’t mean we can’t talk about it, though. It’s just that whereas you’re investing thousands and building intense and hectic designs, our prowess stopped with the kind of Lego guns a 7-year-old makes – and that snap as soon as you point them at anyone…

As we mentioned, though, that’s not really super important.

But, because we’re picturing the dude who came up to us in Kmart and started quizzing us on Lego while we were looking for a gift, we’re gonna ask you guys what you think about the new Lego Batmobile.

Obviously, taking on the Batmobile is big news. Lego Batman’s a legit franchise, but the Batmobile is bloody iconic – and this latest model has got Gizmodo’s resident Lego dude, Andrew Liszewski, saying it’s the best thing Lego have ever done. And he’s including the giant Star Wars Millennium Falcon model in that.

“Ask any Star Wars collector and they’ll tell you that Lego’s $1,160, 7,500+ piece Ultimate Collectors Millennium Falcon set was an absolute showstopper and the pinnacle of plastic brick model making. Until last week I would have agreed, but then I spent the past weekend building Lego’s new 1989 Tim Burton Batmobile—and I truly believe it’s the best set the toymaker has ever released.”

He says that’s because of the sheer shape of it – not to mention the logistics in using plastic blocks to recreate such a curvy design. “I’d argue that recreating the iconic curves of one of the most recognisable vehicles in movie history with plastic bricks was a bigger model making challenge—and one that I think Lego’s designers absolutely nailed with this new set.”

With over 3,300 pieces in 24 bags, it’s bound to keep you blokes busy for long enough to really decide if it’s as good as Liszewski says, or whether he’s full of crap.

Final thought: As we alluded to before, Lego’s come a bloody long way over the last few years. We’re not a hundred per cent sure how we feel about there being a specific Lego set for everything and we reckon the original multi-coloured shemozzle was plenty of fun, but we also recognise that this is proper collector’s stuff.
