Vietnam’s new f*cken stunning bridge looks like something from Lord of the Rings

We all know that Kiwiland (New Zealand for the politically correct among you), is the place to go for everything Lord of the Rings. The landscapes there are so close to Tolkien’s descriptions, you could set a film based on his work there; the people are tiny, love food and have massive hairy feet; and it’s ruled by a giant blazing eye that can see everything you’re doing – even when you’re in incognito mode, Barry! But with this stunning new bridge in Vietnam, Hobbiton may have some competition…

Opening in Vietnam’s Da Nang province in June, the Golden Bridge is da bomb. Stretching for 150 metres across a picturesque rolling landscape and allowing splendid views of the surrounding countryside thanks to its 1400 metres of elevation, this awesome feat of architecture and imagination appears to be supported by two gigantic and godlike hands.

Or, if you’re a glass half empty kind of guy, it looks like it’s about to be ripped out of the ground, screwed into a loose ball and cast into the distance by the hands of a gigantic rock demon as it comes to life and reacts to the hundreds of people crawling on its face.

Seriously though, this thing is f**ken magnificent. As far as I’m concerned, there is just not enough architecture reminiscent of the sword and sorcery epics bestowed upon us by the likes of Tolkien, Tad Williams and George ‘Haha-You’re-Never-Getting-The-Last-One’ Martin.

With purple chrysanthemums lining its perimeter, fantastic views, and a classy-as-f**k design, the bridge is part of a huge $2billion investment in the area to boost tourism numbers. As I mentioned above, this is something I’d love to see the Ozzy Government getting onto.

Let’s f**k off all the post-modern bullsh*t and go for something people will actually want to look at in the near future. Can we carve a bloody knight fighting a troll into the side of one of our mountains? How about an even better bridge than this one? One featuring a griffin riding on the back of a three-headed dragon as it plucks Cthulhu out of the ocean? Surely we can do that!

Final thought: This looks f**ken smick. We could definitely add a little more magic to the world – and Asia seem to be doing their bit with sh*t like this and waterfalls coming out the sides of buildings!
