Family’s “pumpkin portraits” are f*@#en mint

Bloody Halloween is lurching, stalking and lumbering towards us again. As you know, the evergreen celebration of all that’s spooky and fun is synonymous with the pumpkin. Deadset, Halloween wouldn’t be what it is without the legendary symbol of the season, the carved jack-o-lantern. Of course, not everyone’s into Halloween. Some still see it as something that’s too American or, worse, something that’s symbolic of evil. Despite that, some families really like Halloween. Like the Norton family of Aylesford, Nova Scotia. Check out the photos below to see just how much these guys get into the Halloween spirit.

Rightio, you might have seen the Norton family’s pics in your social media feeds already this season, but whereas some families love to dress up in Christmas-themed outfits for family photos, this lot want to show their love of Halloween.

This isn’t a new thing for them, though. Yeah, nah, the pics have been a huge hit this year, but according to Mark Norton, it started seven years ago when their daughter was just five months old. “I figured it would be cool to make an Anne Geddes scene, put her in a pumpkin and that’s where it started,” he told NEWS 95.7.

From there, the pics evolved in a way you’ll see as loads of fun or, let’s be honest, fairly disturbing. Yeah, Mark decided he too wanted to don a gourd and get in on the action. His wife Sidney says, “Mark carves them out and we kind of shimmy our way in. We have to cut the back out for Mark and I in order to fit in, but the kids kind of just slide in.”

This is the first time the photos have blown up, having been shared more than two-hundred-thousand times. Sidney reckons they’ll be doing it next year too. “It’s a fun family tradition the kids look forward to.

Let’s just hope it stops before the kids get too big. We wouldn’t want things to get weird.

Final thought: We’re really interested in what you blokes and blokettes reckon about this. We’re not entirely sure what to say. Obviously, some families are closer than others, but we reckon that it takes a special kind of wife not to crack the s**ts and tell her husband to put down the gourd when she’s getting her baby photos. Still, each to their own. You do you, Nova Scotia. You do you.
