This Aussie Survivor challenge should’ve had a bloody “adults only” rating
We all know that reality television sometimes lends itself to scenarios and challenges that can get a bit revealing for the casual audience. What it does have going for it, though, is the fact that it’s not biased in the way it presents some of that stuff. Take a show like Survivor for example. While we’re only guessing, we reckon the producers know full-well that a pretty huge part of the demographic is female. If that means they’re gonna put blokes into compromised positions, you’d better believe they’re gonna do that.
If you’re not sure what we’re talking about, a recent challenge on the show did exactly that.
As you can imagine, plenty of people have questioned the challenge online, claiming that it was pretty-much p0rn. To be fair, we can see where they’re coming from.
Have a watch of the scene, and you’ll notice the cameras spend an awful lot of time focusing on the grasping blokes as they rub up against each other and vie for dominance. It’s all, apparently, part of a challenge. In truth, it’s pretty reminiscent of South Park’s Goobacks episode.
And then there’s the sheilas. You’ve got one of the lasses choc-nosing the living s**t out of one the other birds, and ‘grinding’ her way to victory. While it’s not really p0rn, it’s probably fair to say it’s a bit gratuitous, and that, yeah, the producers knew what they were doing.
Despite the ‘outrage’ of a few social media commenters, it’s probably fair to say that fans of the show bloody loved it. After all, the best thing about ‘reality television’ is that it is completely trashy. You’re supposed to put your mind to rest and just enjoy the collection of drongos trying to outdo each other in a series of humiliating situations.
S**t, maybe it is like life.
Final thought: Look, we reckon ‘p0rn’ is a bit of a stretch here when you’re trying to label the events that unfolded during the wrestling challenge, but as we said earlier, the producers knew exactly what they were doing. Still, if you disagree, and you could rub one out to it, let us know in the comments section.
