News reporter left speechless when economist reveals Russian stock market news on live TV

Obviously, the s**t that’s going on in the Ukraine is big news. You’re aware of that and you don’t us to recap it all for you, but one of the interesting—and perhaps telling—ways foreign governments have been reacting to the conflict is with financial penalties and attacks on the Russian Stock Market. When you combine that with the fact Russian media is heavily controlled and propagandized, you get interesting reactions when reality is brought up. Check out this video to see what we mean…

OK, without beating around the bush, this is an eye-opening video on many levels, and over on Reddit, where we found it, the humour surrounding the video is dark. That’s because we all know what supposedly happens to people who communicate information Putin might not want shared.

That alone, though, is nowhere near as telling as the News reporter’s reactions. She begins in normal enough fashion, calmly introducing Alexander Butmanov, an economist and expert on stock market strategies.

Butmanov doesn’t look nearly as calm. Yeah, nah, matter of fact, he looks pretty resigned to the fact he’s f**ked on multiple levels. And that comes through in his interview. He doesn’t hold back. He’s undoubtedly been ruined by sanctions—as have countless others.

Instead of holding party lines, though, he just f**ken admits it, saying that at least once a year, he’ll be able to work as a Santa Claus. He then opts to drink to the death of the stock market in Russia.

“I send regards to Sergei Usychenko, who drank 12, 13, 14 years ago to the death of the stock market,” he says. He then cracks a bottle, claims it’s carbonated water, and continues. “Dear stock market, you were close to us, you were interesting. Rest in peace, dear comrade.”

The reporter’s eyebrows practically lift off her face, and she remembers who runs the show. “I’m not going to comment on this stunt, because I don’t want to believe it,” she says.

And you get the feeling that all is not good in Russia.

Final thought: On a completely serious note, one of the big issues right now in Russia is Putin’s control over the joint. It feels like keeping a lid on this stuff is getting harder. After all, reality can only knock on the door for so long before you have to take note, but it almost feels like more of this stuff needs to get out and be shared within Russia. If you’ve got anyway to do that, make it happen.
