Sheila waters her plant for two bloody years before realising it was fake

Keeping plants isn’t for everyone. Yeah, nah, try as we might, some of us just kill every bloody plant we want to grow and nurture and love. That’s why we love fake plants. You don’t have to do bloody anything to them. And, in this day and age, it’s possible to get some that look so realistic, it’s almost impossible to tell them apart from a real one. S**t, for some people, it is impossible. Have a look at this story to see what we mean…

Yeah, nah, fair go, this Aussie sheila has had a shocker, but we reckon she’s more than deserving of a proper pull of the plunger. After all, it’s a mistake anyone could make. The sheila in question is Caelie Wilkes, and as far as caring sheilas go, she seems like a good one. After all, as she tells it, she was pretty f**ken dedicated to her favourite little potted succulent.

“Story time. I’ve had this beautiful succulent for about 2 years now. I was so proud of this plant,” she wrote on Facebook, obviously getting us ready for a sad story. “It was full, beautiful colouring, just an overall perfect plant. I had it up in my kitchen window. I had a watering plan for it, if someone else tried to water my succulent I would get so defensive because I just wanted to keep good care of it. I absolutely loved my succulent. Today I decided it was time to transplant, I found a cute vase that suited it perfectly.”

Yeah, nah, from the past tense, it’s obvious she’s a bit gutted. The rest of the post details exactly how her love for the little succulent died…

“I go to pull it from the original plastic container it was purchased with to learn this plant was FAKE. I put so much love into this plant! I washed its leaves. Tried my hardest to keep it looking its best, and it’s completely plastic! How did I not know this? I pull it from the container, and it’s sitting on Styrofoam with sand glued to the top! I feel like these last two years have been a lie.”

In complete fairness to Caelie, we get mistaking a fake plant for a real one. That happens to the best of us, but what’s got us confused is that she never once noticed that it hadn’t grown. Or, this has us really worried, maybe she thought it was growing and that’s what prompted her to transplant it…

It’s a worry really.

Final thought: Look, in the interest of solidarity, let’s see how many of you blokes and blokettes out there in the comments section have done something similar. Let us know how you went, and we’ll see if we can give Caelie a bit of a pick-me-up…
