British Tourist Chased By Nepalese Woman After Questioning the Price of Tea

As much as I love this sunburned country we call Straya, it’s always nice to see how the rest of the world lives. And let’s be honest, implications of privilege and entitlement aside, one of the real perks for many of us from more established countries is travelling to countries with economies that aren’t exactly top notch and enjoying good quality sh** for a fraction of the cost.

Of course, it’s got to work both ways. When you are in that position, it’s probably best to let the locals charge you a premium and deal with it. Fact is you’re STILL probably getting a bloody good deal. Unfortunately, sometimes the people on tour don’t always remember to leave their sense of entitlement behind.

Meet Ms Wilson. While trekking through Nepal’s Annapurna Circuit with her fifteen-year-old son, Ms Wilson stopped for a lovely cuppa at a mere fraction of the price she’d pay at home. Unfortunately for her though, the vendor, who wields two wooden sticks like Deadpool wields f*****g katanas and wisecracks, takes umbrage when she questions the price.  150 rupees.  That’s about a quid in Pommyland or a buck seventy in Oz. Hardly enough to break the bank.

Apparently, after having a good old fashioned pommy whinge, Ms Wilson and her son stopped to take a photo of the establishment – presumably to upload to Yelp – and the tea vendor decided to brew up a nice warm cup of ‘get the f*** outta here you ungrateful tourist’.

Obviously, Ms Wilson and her son legged it but the cuppa lady gave chase. She hurled rocks and – from the look of the video – chased them a pretty long way. Check out the video below to see her shouting hilarious abuse at the tourists while Ms Wilson apologies profusely on the high mountain path.

Wielding two planks of wood like an extra-talented Hacksaw Jim Duggan, the cuppa lady says, “you English people are rich.  Why bargain?”

You know, this is one of those videos where no one really comes out looking squeaky clean. It is worth noting that Nepal is an incredibly poor country and most people there live on about six Australian dollarydoos a week. But yeah, not a good thing to burn the bridge with tourists either.
