Skydiver survives 13,500ft fall to destination f@#*ked

F**ken humans are amazing. Deadset, if there’s one thing we can take away from all out time putting together content for you legends, it’s that for every story about dodgy b**tards, there are ten more about absolute legends, about top blokes and top sheilas and the enduring spirit of f**ken humanity. Yeah, nah, we talk a lot about Destination F**ked, but nothing’s better than seeing someone go there and then bounce back. That’s the story of Jordan Hatmaker. Check it out…

Rightio, Jordan is a bloody legend. Let’s make that s**t clear right from the start. Her never say die attitude and commitment to living her best life make this story a bit f**ken emotional. Yeah, nah, we’re not gonna lie. Her story is not your usual.

That’s because where most people would give up after splatting into the f**ken ground after jumping from an airplane, she’s planning on tackling Mount Everest! It all started with her sixteenth sky dive.

When she pulled the parachute cord, the pilot chute tangled around her leg, throwing her out of whack. The jolt of the release then threw the main canopy out of the bag, and she was left freefalling.

“Everything happened really quickly,” she says. “I didn’t have any thoughts because I was spiralling so I didn’t know what was going on, I was just in strategy mode.”

Twenty seconds later, f**ken impact.

“First I tried to push myself off the ground, and when I couldn’t move anything my first thought was I was paralysed and I was yelling that out. I’ve never heard sounds like those come out of my body. I screamed bloodcurdling screams. I hit with my left leg first and then I bounced off of my butt and faceplanted, and that’s how I broke my back. There was just extreme burning through my lower back and down my legs.”

Doctors had to decompress her spinal cord, perform spinal fusion surgery, remove bone fragments, and repair her broken tibia and ankle. Despite this, the inspirational sheila didn’t give up.

“I was very thankful to be alive, that was my thought I had most often. I had a lot of hope in that I would walk again, even though I couldn’t lift my legs or move them back and forth. I had a lot of hope that I would do everything I wanted to do again.”

Now, it looks like she’s halfway to doing that. Don’t get us wrong, she’s still dealing with a fair whack of pain, but after having to cancel a trip to Everest, she’s considering doing it once she’s back on track.

“I don’t think that you should give up things that you love just because an obstacle was put in your way, life is too short and you should do what makes you happy. I really hope to send a message of trying to find the silver lining in whatever situation you’re in. You never know how strong you are until you have to be, don’t underestimate yourself.”

What a f**ken legend.

Final thought: Honestly, this story was way more heart-warming than we would have thought. If you’ve ever found yourself in a situation where you need a little bit of a pick-me-up, think about Jordan’s words. They’re pretty good, and that’s why we’re dubbing her a top sheila!
