Ryan Reynolds congratulates Joker on surpassing Deadpool as the highest-grossing R-rated movie in typical fashion

It’s pretty bloody hard not to love Ryan Reynolds. Despite the fact he’s a big Hollywood star, he’s somehow maintained the kind of attitude you’d expect from one of your mates. He’s a bloody smartass, he loves to drop a few expletives, he’s full of banter and he just loves stirring the bloody pot. We love that s**t here in Oz, and we have to say that yeah, those who say the bloke just tries to make everything about him might have a point, but we don’t really care because he does it in such a comical way. That’s why we loved his message to the makers of Joker.

As you probably know, the Joker movie’s basically been the only movie in the whole world for the last few weeks. It’s been top of mind for anyone who’s seen it and top of the box-office charts for bloody ages. Matter of fact, it’s just become the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever – and that means that Reynolds’ own movie Deadpool has had to hand over the mantle

Apparently, there’s a long-running tradition of the current title-holder congratulating the usurper when a new movie breaks box-office records. Staying true to that, Reynolds tweeted the following to the makers of Joker:

“R-Rated box office congratulatory posts aren’t like the ones you’re used to…”

The cheeky bugger had only gone and tweeted a poster that he – or one of his minions – had doctored to include the message, “You mother f**ker!”

Below that, he added names of actors and characters who’d all previously held the mantle, making it appear like they were all in on the joke.

Final thought: We’re sure it won’t be long before another movie comes and knocks Joker off its perch, but whether Reynolds will get another record for the feat remains to be seen. Of course, if we do, that means the rumoured X-Force movie has probably come out. That couldn’t possibly be a bad thing.
