Amazing Russian dog leaps off train and travels 200km back towards owner who rejected her

All right, straight up and completely without bullshit, this isn’t the happiest story in the world. Don’t get us wrong, it’s not like a movie about a dog where the dog cark its or anything, but there’s still an underlying tone of tragedy and fruitless love to this one. Of course, it also shows us that it’s not only Russian humans who have superpowers. Yeah, nah, Russian dogs are pretty bloody tough too…

Rightio, as we’ve told you a couple of times, this one takes place in Russia. The hardy protagonist is the gorgeous pup, Maru. Now, we’d be letting the story down if we didn’t give you the premise: Maru’s owner had decided she was allergic to the canine when she put her on a train and sent her back to the kennel she came from.

According to Alla Morozova, the owner of said kennel, “The noise of the train scared her and she jumped on the compartment door, kicked the handle to open it, and almost threw the conductor out of the way. When the door opened to the platform, she jumped out into the night.”

Before she was found only a short distance away from the house of her owner, the bullmastiff travelled two-hundred kilometres of the Trans-Siberian railway line, somehow avoiding predators like wolves and bears.

Morozova said Maru was pretty bloody lucky. “Luckily neither bears ate her, nor wolves chewed her up. She was very tired. She was lame, her paws were broken. The pads on her feet were damaged. Her muzzle was broken.”

This is all bloody heartbreaking for the young pup who just wanted to go home to Mum. Completely without understanding the reasons for her cross-country travel, Maru was distraught. Making it worse, when the train staff tasked with looking after the poor dog realised what had happened, they got in contact with Morozova, who organised a search party. She even contacted Maru’s former owner, who chose not to help.

Thankfully, despite her injuries, Maru was found in an industrial estate close to the home of the owner who rejected her. She was said to have tears in her eyes. Exhausted, she fell down a railway embankment before she was recognised and rescued. Her injuries were obviously pretty bloody debilitating.

Despite the apathy of her former owner, she did make it home to her biological parents thanks to the help of the amazing Morozova. That woman deserves a massive huzzah. The former owner? A proper kick in the dick, we reckon. A proper kick in the dick.

Final thought: As we said, this story’s got some tragic tones, but it shows how bloody tough Russian dogs are. Moreso than that, but, it shows how bloody loyal and dedicated dogs are in general. Damn we love dogs.
