Mum Causes World Wide Outrage After Posting A Picture Breastfeeding While Smoking Bong

There’s irresponsible, then there’s this!

It seems there’s no escape from d*ckheads doing irresponsible things with their kids. Whilst they say that it’s not the issues that knew, it’s the cameras that expose them, it’s hard to imagine this type of behaviour to have ever been condoned let alone a good activity to photograph.

New mum Kayla Marlow from Oregon in the states has come under significant fire on social media after posting this disgraceful picture on Facebook. It shows her with her in what she says was a ‘staged’ photograph taking a hit from a bong as her friend lights it. This would be fine as a resident of Oregon for marijuana is legal for use recreationally by those over 21. But there is another element to the snap and that is that she is simultaneously breastfeeding her infant child.

For those who haven’t heard of the risks associated with substance use and breastfeeding, drugs are absorbed into the mother’s bloodstream whereby the toxins are diffused into their breast milk in varying amounts. This is then expressed and ingested by the child.

In the case of pot, the active ingredient that gets you high, THC, is passed into breast milk in moderate amounts. Whilst it’s only a ‘moderate amount’ bear in mind these are tiny, tiny infants! There is enough research to suggest it’s not a good idea! It is recommended that mothers ‘Pump and Dump’ for most drugs for 3 hours after they take them to stop it passing it through the food chain, but longer is recommended for marijuana.

But this isn’t the only irresponsibility shown in the picture. The baby is also exposed to the smoke and passive smoking will mean the baby will absorb significant amounts of marijuana if he is in the vicinity of the smoke. Marijuana use is not recommended at all for breastfeeding mothers as TCH can reduce milk supply and make mums ‘dry up’. Also a high can mean a mother is less responsive to her baby’s needs.

Both Kayla and her bong accomplice have deleted their Facebook accounts as they couldn’t take any more hits.
