Stunning Chester Bennington Tribute Mural Is Literally Stopping Traffic

Uber-talented street artist, Jonas Never, has put the finishing touches on a beautiful homage to Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington. When Never learned of Bennington’s suicide, he knew the perfect spot to create the touching and stunning tribute. Taking a mere two-days to complete, it was a collaborative piece with other street artists, Kub and Kryst.

The monochrome piece shows a smiling Chester Bennington with all his tattoos on display. Darkness surrounds his lower half whilst a brilliant halo surrounds his head. He looks relaxed and content, a far cry from the demons that had followed him throughout his life.

“I thought it would be better than having him up there screaming,” said Never when interviewed about the artwork.

The piece occupies previously blank space at the rear of Rock ‘n Pies Pizza in Santa Monica, LA. The restaurant is festooned with other murals and smaller pieces by Jonas, like the one below of Dave Grohl.

Usually commissioned to produce his incredible work, however Jonas did this one for free as it was “The right thing to do”.

Chester Bennington’s Tragic Suicide Link to Soundgarden Star Chris Cornell

Located near the highway, restaurant owner Jim Conners was blown away with the amount of attention it had received.

“I was leaving the kitchen last night at 11:30, and I was greeted by flashing lights – people taking pictures,” he said.

“When Jonas was working on it, everyone in their cars on the 101 were beeping their horns and cheering him on. It was pretty cool.

“Now there’s something to look at while you’re stuck in traffic.”

Bennington was laid to rest in a private ceremony in Los Angeles on 29 July. He had been found dead by hanging by a housekeeper nine days prior to this. Bennington had been distraught about losing his friend and musical contemporary Chris Cornell. Coupled with his mental health conditions, Bennington lost his battle weeks before his band was due to tour.
